Sometimes every page has to become its own file. With our "Extract All" burst mode, you can drop a massive slide deck or a 50-page scanned invoice ledger into the tool. It will instantly shatter the PDF, isolating every single page into its own individual file, and subsequently package the entire collection into a cleanly numbered ZIP archive.

Why the File Never Leaves Your Browser

Uploading financial statements or employee records to a remote server just to split one page is often against company policy. Leveraged by pure local JavaScript, your browser handles the complex byte-level manipulation required to reconstruct the split PDFs, ensuring mathematically certain privacy.

How to Extract Specific Pages From a PDF

This page handles one PDF at a time, up to 50 MB, and the file is parsed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so the page count appears as soon as the document finishes loading.

There are two ways to split a document:

1. Add a PDF with the drop zone or the file picker, and let the page count be detected.
2. Choose Extract all pages for a per-page archive, or enter a start page and an end page in the range mode.
3. Download the result. The archive arrives as a zip, the range arrives as a single PDF.

The naming is predictable. Extract all pages builds jwtoolbox-pages-<timestamp>.zip and stores one file per page as page-01.pdf through page-NN.pdf, padded to at least two digits, so a 248 page scan ends at page-248.pdf. Range mode produces one file named jwtoolbox-<start>-<end>.pdf.

Range values are validated before anything is written: the start page must be 1 or higher, the end page cannot exceed the page count, and the start cannot be past the end. A bad range produces an error message instead of a truncated file.

Worked example. You have a 24 page board pack and only need the appendices, which run from page 5 to page 12. Enter 5 and 12, and the tool copies 12 minus 5 plus 1, which is 8 pages, into jwtoolbox-5-12.pdf. Your original file is never modified. Extract all pages on the same document instead, and the zip holds page-01.pdf through page-24.pdf, with the text staying selectable in the usual case because each page is copied as vector content. Files that cannot be opened this way, typically encrypted ones, fall back to a page-by-page render at three times scale, and in that fallback the text becomes an image.
