Why Manual Age Math Is Harder Than It Looks

Sounds simple, right? Your birthday is March 15, 1990. Today is January 12, 2026. You're 35. Except... are you 35 years, 9 months, and 28 days? Or 35 years, 9 months, and 27 days? It depends on how many days are in the months between — and whether any of those years were leap years.

The math gets especially tricky for:

• Month boundaries (if you're born Jan 31 and today is March 2, how many months is that? One or two?)
